A relative newcomer to the fashion industry, Bench started out as a menswear brand from Manchester in the mid 1990s. Initially popular for vibrant screen-printed tees and sweats, the company quickly diversified and began selling a wide variety of menswear inspired by popular urban activities like skateboarding and bmx riding. Bench is now a full-on urban lifestyle brand with a collection that includes gear for men and women, sold around the world.
Though the Bench collections change to suit the fashion seasons, the apparel available carrying the simple Bench logo usually includes coats and jackets designed with urban living and independent thinking in mind. Bench urban apparel is almost instantly recognisable by a few key details: a wrap-around collar emblazoned with the Bench logo, sleeves with fitted cuffs and thumb holes and screenprinted or embroidered logos on the back.
Bench jackets for women are available in a good range of styles and shapes to suit busy ladies that haven’t always got time to switch coats between work and play. Also, the Bench men’s coat closet includes durable jackets, such as: the Flunk Light Ripstop Jacket, made of waterproof, ripstop nylon, featuring a hood, full-zip and half-zip as well as screenprinted details front and back; a unique fleece-lined polyester jacket with hood, adjustable zip sleeves and an off-set zip closure; the waterproof, high-collared Abscond Light Jacket; the waterproof, hooded Tech Hooded Zip-Thru Jacket; the Deviant Jacket, in ripstop nylon, mesh lining and an adjustable hood; a 100% cotton, collarless Biker Jacket with optional zip or press-stud fastenings; and the Falcon Button Out Liner Jacket, made from heavy-weight canvas with a detachable fleece lining and fold-up hood in the collar.
